She Was All Up On Me Screaming, "Yale!"
I'm at Yale for a rotation in child psychiatry. I love it. I'm not sure I'll go into child psych, as I do like adult psych as well, but this rotation is fabulous. The attendings are brilliant and nice, and most importantly, committed to teaching. The residents (actually, "fellows") are all super-cool. The kids are great, too. Not without their problems, of course, but still pretty lovable.
Tonight I went for a walk around Yale. I wanted some exercise, but I didn't feel safe running around New Haven, so I walked around the undergrad campus. I loved it. Just walking past Starbucks or Atticus, or the warmly glowing Saybrook common room, and seeing the students ensconced in their Yale sweatshirts, heads bowed over papers and books, made me jealous. Or walking on Old Campus, with the windows full of dorm stuff and a bunch of frat boys parading down onto the main quad, shouting, "SAE! SAE!" Heh, as I walked out there was one guy leading a blindfolded guy in a suit down High Street.
But as much as I envied the students, I was also happy to walk a few blocks away from the campus to my apartment, and back into the real world. I like being an adult, too.
Oh, and by the way, I did hear the Usher song on my radio as I was walking, and smiled to myself as I thought of the post title.
