Much belated vacation pics

These are a few pictures from when my family went to Maine a couple of months ago. Here's Mom and my nephew Ben:
And my Dad and my nephew Isaac:
And Matt, Ben, Rog, Dad, and me having popovers:
It really was a good vacation.
In other news, cute rehab resident tested my right arm reflexes today, and there was definitely a lot of hand contact as he slid his forearm out from under mine. Rowr. Negative ring sign, baby. Also, my psychiatrist canceled our appointment today, which was actually a really good thing, because I got to finish admitting a patient, which was a requirement for the rotation. Very good to check that off the list. I'd been feeling guilty about taking so much time off the rotation for appointments, so this way I'm racking up a respectable amount of time spent on duty. And, of course, I stayed late enough to get those reflexes tested. ;)

TGIF, Yo

It's been a long week. Rehab sucks. I have to take the subway up to North Philly and then a shuttle bus to the hospital (or a cab, today). My resident is cute, at least.

I Don't Roll on Shabbas

I was anxious all week, and then this weekend my anxieties melted away for some reason. I felt the occasional chest tightness or shortness of breath yesterday, but ignored it. It was rainy today and I had a cozy time with my family all day, puttering around, listening to music. I also saw my eye doctor today. Since my prescription strength hasn't changed over the last few years, I might get LASIK -- in fact, I'm pretty set that I want to. It's just a matter of talking to the 'rents about it. Any thoughts?
So since it's late and I don't have time to get into anything else interesting, I thought I'd leave you with this:
What is it that makes a complete stranger dive into an icy river to save a solid gold baby?

Shrinky Dink

I'm still here. Just wanted to say that I've been seeing a psychiatrist for six weeks, and it has made me very anxious for the past week and a half, with the exception of this past weekend. Meh. It probably has to do with my raging crush on him. Ah well, I meet with him again on Tuesday morning.

Summer Lovin'

...or at least, I'm lovin' summer.
This weekend had some beautiful weather. It was hot, sure, but it wasn't very humid. Saturday I went out to a friend's parents' house in the suburbs for a pool party. It was fantastic! Fun pool time, pizza, strawberry shortcake, liquor, "I Never," and just plain time to relax.
Today, my brother and his family picked me up and we drove out to my parents' house. We had an incredibly delicious dinner, and very summer-appropriate. I told Mom it was Martha Stewart-esque.
And now I prepare for a week of sometimes-mindnumbing, sometimes-stressful, occasionally cool neurology.

Yeah Man, I Got A Rash

This poison ivy is driving me mad. I might just call tomorrow to get a doctor's appointment just to get some friggin' prednisone or something. Hydrocortisone cream has been helping but not making it go away. It's been a week. Gah!
Speaking of irritation, I just started my neurology rotation this week. Orientation was Monday and that was fun and short. Yesterday and today... were not. The material is interesting -- I've gone over Parkinson's disease, Wernicke's encephalopathy, and a whole bunch of change in mental status cases. But the people leave something to be desired, we round for hours, and I'm missing my peeps in psych.

Another Fabulous Wedding
I'm smiling at the bride now, and in fact I still smile when thinking about what a great wedding it was, but I wasn't smiling later that night when my flight was cancelled and I had to spend the night in a Hartford Holiday Inn Express, nor was I smiling the next day when poison ivy attacked my arms, trunk, neck, and face, and left ankle.
